Research Agenda

My ongoing research projects include a study of creative writer in first-year writing and alternative composition histories/activities. I'm currently working on a manuscript focused on the lives and literacies of LGBTQ+ communities in Florida.

Summer Development Grant (2021), "Mindful Moments: Contemplative Pedagogy in the Writing Classroom." Co-led a workshop with Susan Nicholas and Amber Nichols-Buckley, DWR, UMiss, 2021. Our presentation on the research/practices of contemplative pedagogy can be found here.

Isom Fellow (2021-2023), Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies, UMiss, AY 2021-2023. A two-year fellowship with the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies. Isom Fellows are given $4,500 a year for two years, in support of a research project focusing on gender or sexuality.

FACT Institute Grant (2020-2021), FASTrack Writ 102, ThinkForward Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), UM, AY 2020-21, $4,000. Redesigned Writ 102 to enhance critical thinking. I met in a peer cohort with the Director of Faculty Development to work on the redesign and assess it.

DWR Course Enhancement Grants (2020), “Labor-based Contract Grading for FASTrack Writ 101, UM, spring 2021, $1,000. My presentation on labor-based contract grading for the department can be found here.
