University of Mississippi

In fall 2019, I helped a UM senior start Missy: writing & art by UM’s LGBTQ+ students & allies, and I currently serve as the publication’s faculty advisor (2019--present). The Mississippi Free Press wrote an article about our publication process.

(We made stickers with QR codes for Issue One.)

As part of the publication’s community outreach, I co-organized a writing group/workshop for LGBTQ+ students in spring 2020.

I currently serve as the faculty advisor for the UM Pride Network.

I co-facilitate “Mindful Mondays” in collaboration with Camp Best and Amber Nichols-Buckley. We lead virtual meditation sessions followed by writing prompts. These sessions are open to faculty and students. We utilize contemplative writing pedagogies to build online community of self-care. I created the Mindful Mondays podcast.

Other service has included: Grants Officer for the Glitterary Festival, co-founder/host of UM’s LGBTQ+ Faculty Meetup, judge for a Speech 314 Debate Final (fall 19), poetry judge for the Southern Literary Festival (fall 19).
